The television cameras cover the meetings at Haydock, Yorkand Goodwoodthis afternoon, so ITV4 is the channel to be with.

Highlight of the meeting at Haydockis the Armstrong Aggregates Temple Stakesat 4.00, which sees the re-appearance of the world’s highest rated 5f sprinter in Battaash, who will attempt to give weight and a beating to 10 rivals. At best price 4-5 this is not a betting race, so watch and enjoy.

The opening race, the Amix Ready Mixed Concrete Handicapat 2.15, has thrown up one of the better bets today, in the shape of Euchen Glen, which is available at an each way price of 5-1.

Somewhat more consistent than perhaps some of Jim Goldie‘s inmates, this 5-y-o has put in two excellent runs already this season, not least last time out when an unlucky seventh in the Chester Plateand it should be spot on today.

The Armstrong Aggregates Sandy Lane Stakesat 3.25 is a Group 2 contest over 6f and has a field of 8. Mr O’Briensends one over for this, but, and this may be a first, his representative Actressis the complete rag at 33-1.

We much prefer the chances of the Richard Faheytrained Sands of Mali, fresh from a victory in a French Group 3, despite being considered to need the run. Already boasting a victory last year over today’s joint favourite Invincible Army, we recommend a win bet at 7-2.

Nipping over the Pennines toYork, the new addition to the Pattern, the Al Basti Dubai Bronte Cup Fillies’ Stakesis at 3.05 and this Group 3 over 14 furlongs looks at the mercy of the favourite Isabel De Urbina. With a profile of a big improver, this young lady showed her well-being with a smooth win in a GoodwoodListed event over twelve furlongs and, with the step up in trip bound to suit, we suggest a win bet at 9-4.

Finishing strongly into fifth in that race was Jet Streamingon stable debut for Ian Williams. This 4-y-o was given one friendly tap on her backside and promptly took off, closing with a real rattle, so it makes sense to have an each way bet on her at a tasty 16-1.

And so on to Goodwood, where proceedings start at 1.55 with the Listed Netbet Mobile Bet10Get10(give me strength)Festival Stakes, a race won last year by First Sitting, a whisker ahead of the re-opposing Spark Plug.

First Sitting‘s record in the past 3 seasons is a seventh place followed by a win and the only reason it wasn’t 7ththis year is because there were only six runners(!) Safe to say, therefore, that this has been the plan and with Gerald Mosseagain in the plate, we’ll take the hint at 11-2.

The Netbet Sport Handicapat 2.30 has the ‘dead 16’ runners (don’t hold your breath) and looks pretty impossible to solve, but we can’t resist having another bash at Another Batt, last seen landing our pick at Chesterearlier this month. Still improving and with David Eganhalving the ratings rise, at 16-1 this has to be the each way wager.

Here’s to a good day and a Mo Salah hat-trick.

Summary:

Euchen Glen 2.15 Haydock e/w @ 5-1
Sands Of Mali 3.25 Haydock win @ 7-2
Isabel De Urbina 3.05 York win @ 9-4
Jet Streaming 3.05 York e/w @ 16-1
First Sitting 1.55 Goodwood win @ 11-2
Another Batt 2.30 Goodwood e/w @ 16-1
