Featured meeting today is at Aintree, where the two main races are over the Grand National fences.
The Becher Handicap Chase at 1.30 has a field of 18, with the hero of last year installed as favourite at 4-1, which is a lot better than last year’s skinny 7-4. Having said that, there’s no real percentage in that price and we prefer to throw in some modest each way bets against it.
Our three against the filed are Regal Flow (16-1), Ultragold (12-1) and Walk In The Mill (18-1), but keep the stakes small, please.
The Betway Grand Sefton Handicap Chase at 3.15 is the other race over the big fences and we have two in this to give us a run, they being Captain Redbeard and Forest Des Aigles, both recommended each way at 6-1.
The cameras are also at Sandown, with the coverage featuring the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at 3.00, in which the mighty Altior defends its unbeaten record over fences which currently stands at 9 from 9. At 4-6, we can but watch and enjoy.
The Jumeirah Hotels And Resorts December Handicap Hurdle at 2.25 is a betting race, though and we recommend a win bet on Nicky Henderson‘s filly Apple’s Shakira at 7-2 to defy a handicap mark of 142.
Additionally we also like the highly tried Man Of Plenty, which represents good value at 10-1 each way.
The Betfair London National Handicap Chase closes the card and, in the hope that the ‘dead eight’ stand their ground, we suggest an each way bash at the course loving Shanroe Santos at 11-2.
A bit of artistry from Daryl Jacob would be nice.
