IT’S THAT MAN AGAIN

IT’S THAT MAN AGAIN
July 7, 2022 Lee Bolingbroke

Televised racing from the first day of the Newmarket July meeting today, together with a brief visit to Carlisle for just one race.

We go North for our first selection, which runs in the British EBF Fillies’ Handicap at 2.45 which has a field of 12 headed in the market by the Haggas trained Razeyna at 2-1.

This daughter of Kodiac has been campaigned over further in her three races to date and has been beaten at a short price the last twice.

Dropping back to six may help and an opening handicap mark of 82 could be lenient, so a win bet is recommended.

Over at HQ, the action kicks off with the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy Stakes at 1.50 over 1m 5f.

The six strong field has the Derby fourth Masakela as 2-1 favourite, but we prefer the chances of Zechariah at 11-4.

The Meade‘s colt ran a blinder at Royal Ascot when beaten a nose in the Group 2 Queen’s Vase and will relish today’s ground conditions. A repeat of his last run should be good enough, so have a win bet.

The Group 2 July Stakes would appear to be a shoot-out between Little Bad Bear and Persian Force, both of which ran excellent races at the Royal meeting.

We can’t really choose between them, but we think that Waiting All Night will give us a run for our hard earned at an artisan 22-1.

Richard Spencer‘s youngster finished just two lengths behind Persian Force at Royal Ascot, finishing strongly from a poor position and, while we are not saying it’ll win, there must be a good chance of a frame possie.

On to the bet365 Handicap at 3.00, a simple matter of 19 3-y-os belting down 6f of Newmarket sward.

Let’s keep it simple and have a win bet on the ‘Group horse in a handicap’, which this time is called Khanjar and is available at 7-2.

Add in an each way bet on the consistent and talented Lethal Levi at 16-1 and, hopefully, job done.

Final race on telly is the Princess of Wales’s Stakes at 3.35, which is just a matter of taking a deep breath and backing Yibir to be in full racing mode.

If it is, it wins and 5-4 will look a good price.

We’re off now, to see whether there’s any decent jobs going in Downing Street.

Summary:

Razeyna 2.45 Carlisle 3pts win @ 2-1

Zecheriah 1.50 Newmarket 2pts win @ 11-4

Waiting All Night 2.25 Newmarket 1pt e/w @ 22-1

Khanjar 3.00 Newmarket 2pts win @ 4-1

Lethal Levi 3.00 Newmarket 1pt e/w @ 16-1 (6 places)

Yibir 3.35 Newmarket 4pts win @ 5-4
