David Bowie provides the headline for Day 2 of the Glorious Goodwood festival, which obviously refers to the world’s highest rated horse, Baaeed, who continues to attempt to emulate the mighty Frankel in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at 3.35.

Clearly a no bet race at 1-6 the jolly, so watch and enjoy.

First race up is the Coral Handicap at 1.50, which has a field of 13, headed by Secret State from the Godolphin camp.

Charlie Appleby‘s charge is on a four-timer after victory at Royal Ascot and is 7lbs higher this afternoon.

Finishing strongly in 6th at Ascot was Teumessias Fox, which has since finished a close second behind today’s second favourite Soulcombe and is sufficiently better off at the weights with both to suggest that this is the value each way bet at a tasty 18-1.

After the first race result yesterday, it is prudent to chuck in an each way bet on Braveheart‘s Luminous Light, for which this race will have been the target. Take the 15-2 available.

Biggest field of the televised races (17) is in the Oak Tree Stakes at 2.25 but we think that each way bets on Primo Bacio at 7-1 and Hello You at 12-1 will pay dividends.

The former is Group 1 class when putting it all together, while the latter is a previous Group 2 winner returning to best form.

The Molecomb Stakes at 3.00 has an even money favourite in Rocket Rodney which must run well but we think it worth chancing an each way tickle on the only filly in the race, Trillium which showed a devastating turn of foot in winning her second race and could get the fav at it. 8-1 is the price.

At 4.10 the EBF Fillies’ Handicap has an open look about it, but from a handicapping perspective, there is little doubt that Peripatetic is on a very good mark.

Roger Varian‘s 3-y-o beat the now 103 rated Fonteyn on her second and final run as a 2-y-o yet pitches up here to run off 86. At 15-2, we’ll give it a shot each way.

The Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at 4.45 closes the televised programme and has an odds on shot at the top of the market. The Platinum Queen can’t sensibly be opposed but can’t be backed either at that price, so we’ll leave this one alone.

Back tomorrow, folks.
