DO YOU FEEL LUCKY?

DO YOU FEEL LUCKY?

Day 4 of the Glorious Goodwood Festival is upon us and is without a Group 1, the headline race being the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes at 3.35.

The Group 3 Coral Charge at Sandown looks the key to this race, won by Raasel, which is disputing favouritism at 7-2.

We had two Preview selections in that race and the consensus is that they should have finished first and second, so, as they both pitch up for another go, we get the chance to set the record straight.

Have a win bet on Mitbaahy at 7-2 and an each way bet on Equilateral at 11-1 and let’s see.

Action commences at 1.50 with the Coral Goodwood Handicap, over the extreme distance of 20 furlongs and started by flag.

Favourite and the pick of apparently everyone and his brother is the Milton Harris trained Super Superjack, which is currently 7-2.

Frankly, we don’t see it and suggest each way bets on Reshoun at 15-2 (guaranteed to get the trip) and Make My Day at 10-1 (5lb better with the Fav for a length).

On to the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes at 2.25, in which our selection is the lightly raced Checkandchallenge, the mount of Will Buick.

Bill Knight‘s runner easily picked up a Listed race on 3-y-o debut, before being out of his depth in the 2000 Guineas. A break followed before a reappearance in a hot handicap at Sandown, in which he failed by less than a length to overhaul Sinjaari. That was off a mark of 108 and, given normal improvement, makes him the one to beat. A win bet please, at 15-8.

The valuable Coral Golden Mile Handicap at 3.00 has a field of 20, but the bigger the field the bigger the certainty (as they say) and all eyes are drawn to  Charlie Appleby runner Noble Dynasty.

Running for the first time ‘sans noisettes’ 3 weeks ago, Noble Dynasty made an absolute mockery of a mark of 94 at Newmarket and is just 3lbs higher this afternoon. 6 lbs well in officially and with a plum draw, we must recommend a win bet at 9-4.

We also suggest an each way tickle on Blue For You, one of David O’Meara‘s six runners and another that’s ahead of its mark and drawn well. Take the 8-1 each way.

The Queen’s Plate at 4.10 looks at the mercy of Rebel’s Romance, but regrettably it has now gone odds on so we are no bet and move swiftly on to the Coral Nursery Handicap at 4.45.

These races are usually won by a horse making its handicap debut (like our 14-1 winner Prairie Falcon yesterday) and we think that Bolt Action fits the bill.

We suspect that Roger Varian considers this horse a lot better than a 92 rated animal and, in the hope that David Egan finally gets something right, we recommend a win bet at 4-1.

The finale awaits tomorrow.
