Day 2 of the Doncaster St Leger meeting and the TV cameras have arrived, having given Day 1 a miss.

The first five races are being shown, starting with the EBF Fillies’ Nursery at 1.25, which has a field of 10.

We have two selections in this, starting with Coco Jamboo, which is available at 7-1.

Marco Botti‘s charge has improved with each of her three runs, being placed behind horses that have all franked the form and an opening mark of 75 looks very workable to say the least.

Our second choice is the consistent and likeable Misty Blues from Tim Easterby‘s yard, which went close last time out when 2nd of 18 at York. The three pound hike for that effort is neatly offset by the booking of Sean Kirrane and this looks a rock solid each way punt at 6-1.

At 2.00 we get the valuable Weatherbys Scientific Stakes over the extended 6f, in which the weight carried is determined by the median price paid for the sire’s yearlings (or something like that, anyway).

Magical Sunset is the favourite at 5-2 after her win at Windsor over a highly regarded opponent which dotted up next time by 6 lengths. The Hannon yard know what it takes to win one of these and we recommend a win bet at the price.

We also suggest an each way dip into Waiting All Night at 12-1.

Richard Spencer‘s runner is by an unfashionable sire and so only carries 8st 8lbs, despite her rating of a lofty 96 and must have a decent chance.

The Group 2 May Hill Stakes at 2.35 features an even money favourite in Dance In The Grass, which is 2-2 so far. Both those races were at 7f on GF ground, whereas today it’s a mile on good to soft. If it gets the trip and handles the going it’ll win, but two ‘ifs’ at even money is no fun, so we apply the famous Spanish Archer to this race.

The Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at 3.10 looks to be at the mercy of Roger Varian and we suggest you back both of his runners.

Eshaada is already a Group 1 winner from last year and, if coping with the slight step up in trip, will take a bit of beating, while Believe In Love is back to her best trip after a strong finishing fourth over shorter.

13-8 and 8-1 are the respective odds.

Doncaster coverage ends with the Cazoo Handicap at 3.45 in which we have a strong fancy for Admiral D.

Richard Fahey‘s gelding has been knocking loudly on the door in its last three races and everything is in place today to go through it. Take the 11-2 e/w.

As a Brucie Bonus we also suggest a win bet on Prydwen in the 5.45 at Southwell, the opening race of the televised Racing League fixture.

An unlucky third in a similar contest last time, the first two have both followed up and Ray Dawson can do the biz tonight. Have a bash at 9-4.

Back tomorrow.
